NET VISION
FUNCTIONS
NET VISION enables the SOCOMEC SICON UPS to be directly connected to the
Ethernet network (LAN/WAN). With this software you can:
- configure the network adapter
- control, command and monitor the UPS
- manage the UPS through a standard Web Browser or from any
SNMP Management Station.

Easy connection to the network
Simply connect NET VISION to the UPS and to your Ethernet network to be able
to monitor and interact with the UPS from any PC using a standard Internet Browser
(naturally after your NET VISION's IP node has been suitably configured).
Monitoring via JAVA

NET VISION provides a JAVA to show the status of the UPS through dynamic
graphics. This applet can display the most important UPS parameters and measurements in
"real time". |

Ergonomic user interface: Web Browser
The graphic interface is based on menus and has been designed in such a way as to make
it simple and user-friendly for any user. With one single click, the user can get
information on the UPS operating mode, configuration and back up event history, etc.
Independent from
operating systems
The information of a UPS equipped with
NET VISION can be accessed from any Workstation or Server, all independently from
the Operating System being used.
Remote administration: SNMP - HTML
Via NET VISION, the administrator can access the information supplied by the
UPS, as well as configure and modify certain parameters. Managing the UPS can be
implemented from an SNMP (Network Management Station) or by using a HTML interface (Web
Browser). |
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
In practical terms, NET VISION converts the information coming
from the UPS and structured according to a given protocol in standards typical of computer
networks (SNMP, HTTP,...). Once the information coming from the UPS has been made
available on the network, the network administrator, or other authorized users, may take
the necessary actions when a given event takes place. Furthermore, the product is
completed by the possibility of automatically handling situations, such as for example the
automatic shutdown of servers (Windows . ® and SCO Unix). |
SHUTDOWN
NET VISION also provides
shutdown services for different operating systems. This shutdown service can be installed
on each server or workstation connected to the network that needs to be shutdown in an
orderly fashion. If necessary, NET VISION will send the shutdown
command directly to each server. The servers or workstation will therefore be correctly
shutdown before the end of the battery back-up time, as defined in the версия для печати NET VISION

CONFIGURATION
NET VISION can easily be configured directly through the network using a Web
browser or Telnet, and from a workstation via the RS232 serial port. All configuration
procedures are password protected. |
